The short version

Jeff reads the messages you point it at, sends them to TypeSafe to get an answer, and keeps a note of each request without the text. The text itself is only kept when someone with Manage Server turns that on, and then only for 30 days. Nothing here is used to train AI.

When you sign in

The dashboard signs you in with Discord and asks for your id, your username and avatar, your email and the list of servers you are in with the permissions you have there. That list is only used to show you the servers you can manage. The login tokens are kept so the list can be refreshed without signing in again, and they go when you sign out of Discord or revoke the app.

What Jeff keeps about a server

For every server Jeff is in it keeps the server id and name, which plugins are on, their settings, the channels and forums you asked it to watch, the FAQ entries you added and the open questions it is keeping track of. That is the same data a self hosted Jeff keeps in its json files, just in a database.

Every request Jeff makes to Jev also writes one row with the server, the plugin, what it was doing, how many questions it asked, how many tokens that took, how long it took and whether it worked. There is no message text in that row. Those rows run the daily caps and show you how much each plugin gets used.

What goes to TypeSafe

Jeff doesn't have opinions of its own, it asks Jev, a model run by TypeSafe. So the text of a message in a watched channel, the title and body of a new forum post, the options in a /settle and the items and criteria in a /rank are sent to TypeSafe's API to get an answer, along with your FAQ entries when it is checking a question against them. TypeSafe handles that text under its own privacy policy, Jeff isn't affiliated with TypeSafe and doesn't control what it does with it.

Jeff only reads messages in channels someone with Manage Server added with /watch and in forums turned on with /autotag. Everything else on your server is never read.

Keeping the text, off by default

On the dashboard there is a switch called Keep queries. It is off until someone with Manage Server turns it on. While it is on, Jeff keeps the full request and the answer Jev gave for 30 days, then deletes them. Turning the switch off deletes everything kept so far, and so does removing Jeff from the server.

Kept queries are only used to make Jeff better, such as tuning the thresholds and the question packs. They are never used to train an AI model, never sold and never shown to anyone outside the people running Jeff.

Getting rid of it

Removing Jeff from a server marks the server as left and deletes its kept queries right away. To have everything else about a server or your login deleted, email [email protected] from the Discord account that signed in and say which server.

The rest

Jeff doesn't run ads, doesn't sell anything it keeps and doesn't share it with anyone except TypeSafe as described above and the hosting providers the database and the bot run on. If this text changes the date at the top changes with it. The code for the bot is open at https://github.com/saembit/jeff-bot, and the terms are on the terms page.
